The Alberta Municipal Government Act mandates that all municipalities appoint members to a Municipal Planning Commission (MPC). In Clear Hills County, the MPC is composed of five out of the seven council members, appointed by resolution at the annual organizational meeting.
The Commission is responsible for reviewing applications for subdivisions, land use amendments, and other applications referred by a Development Authority Officer. Additionally, the MPC advises and assists County Council on planning orderly and economical development within the municipality, ensuring that proposed developments align with the Land Use Bylaw and Municipal Development Plan.
Municipal Planning Commission Meetings are held at 9:00 a.m. on Regular Council Meeting Days on an as needed basis. (2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month)
All agendas and decisions of the Municipal Planning Commission are publicly accessible.
