Property Tax Information for Clear Hills County

In Alberta, property owners are required to pay property taxes. In Clear Hills County, our Corporate Services department is responsible for collecting these taxes, as well as the Education & Seniors Tax requisitions on behalf of the Government of Alberta.

Payment Options

If you would like to drop your cheque off outside of regular business hours, you may use the drop boxes at the entrance. The date listed on the postage of the cheque will be used to determine the payment date.

Change Of Address on Tax/Assessment Notices

Change of Address on Tax/Assessment Notices

Please be aware that any address changes for your tax/assessment notices must first be updated through Land Titles before Clear Hills County can process them. If you need to update your address on these notices, you have two options:

  1. Call the Government of Alberta's RITE line at 310-0000, then dial 780-427-2742.

  2. Visit the website www.alberta.ca/land-titles.aspx.

    • Click on "Land Titles - Overview."
    • Scroll down to "Change of Address and Name."
    • Click on the "Change of Address" PDF form and follow the instructions provided.

Once Clear Hills County receives notification from Land Titles, we will update your records accordingly. This process ensures that your tax/assessment notices are not returned to our office, preventing any delays in you receiving them.

Education Property Tax on your Notice

Each year, the Government of Alberta determines the amount that each municipality must contribute to the public education system, based on the assessed property values within their jurisdiction.

Municipalities, including Clear Hills County, collect this contribution as part of the Education Property Tax (School Support) from property owners. These funds are then forwarded to the Province and deposited into the Alberta School Foundation Fund (ASFF).
